Fairbanks Borough - Fairbanks, Alaska

Snowy Owlets
Snowy owls live on the Arctic tundra year around. they nest directly on the ground because there are no trees in the Arctic. Baby owls, known as owlets, are fed by both parents and within eight weeks are ready to leave the nest. In the summer, snowy owls are brownish with dark spots and stripes but they turn completely white in the winter.

This was sent by the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau.

What a great picture of the Northern Lights. I’m not sure I really want to be there at that time of year. I like to see the light of day.
